The Elijah Forerunner
The forerunner, whom God calls "Elijah," is a sign of the Christ. His life will resemble what Jesus will do when He comes. He is a preview of the Messiah. John the Baptist was a picture of what Christ would do at His first coming. Therefore, Jesus called John, "Elijah."
Mat 11:14
And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come.
The forerunner is sent to prepare the way of the Lord and be a sign and a preview of the Messiah.
Mat 17:12
“But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.”
Why did John have to suffer and be executed? Because Jesus would suffer and be executed.

If you want to know what Messiah will do, you look to the forerunner.
The one sent to forerun for the King is a sign and a picture of the coming Lord.
He must prepare the bride for the Bridegroom.
His work will resemble the Lord's.
He is a preview of things to come.

Goes up with the church in the clouds to meet the Lord.
1 Th 4:17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
He is the mighty and strong one of Isaiah 28:2
Return of Jesus Christ
Mar 13:26 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
Rev 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
Conquers the world
Rev 19:15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron.
Completes the restoration of all things and sets up His Kingdom

Brings the ultimate glory to God

Comes in the clouds with the church.
